About This Role
The Job
Aramark is looking for a Millwright in Detroit, MI. This is a hands on gig where you'll install, dismantle, and move machinery and heavy equipment. You won't be stuck behind a desk; you'll be on the floor making things work right.
Schedule
Second shift. Monday through Friday, from 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
What You'll Do
- Install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans.
- Adjust equipment to keep it running at its best.
- Work with dock doors ; that's part of the daily routine.
- Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts before they cause trouble.
- Align equipment and machinery precisely.
- Position equipment using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment.
- Weld and use a torch as needed.
- Tighten the tension of nuts or bolts so nothing shakes loose.
- Coworker communication matters; you'll coordinate installations or repairs with others on your team.
- Lubricate equipment to keep it running smoothly.
- Maintain work equipment and machinery overall.
- Assemble mechanical components or machine parts by hand.
- Bolt objects into place securely.
What You Need
- A Journeyman Card ; that's required here.
- 2 3 years of Millwright experience, not just general labor but specific millwright work under your belt.
- Experience with industrial doors. If you've worked on heavy automated doors before, you're ahead of the game.
A Little More About This Role
The job calls for someone who can read layout plans and follow them without handholding. It's physical work ; some days you're lifting heavy stuff with tools or rigging equipment. Other days it's fine tuning adjustments so everything hums. Both matter equally here. The welding part isn't optional; torch skills are built into this role day one. No grad school required here ; just solid experience backed by that Journeyman card. And while we do coordinate with coworkers sometimes ("communicate with coworkers" is literally in the original posting) nobody expects poet level communication skills; just basic courtesy between shifts works fine. Resume submission? Yes please ; have one ready when applying so we know what years qualify as "experience". Education upfront also helps us process faster on our end in recruiting tracking systems (we do this every day). We check for those specific requirements like door experience first thing because that saves everybody time interviewing folks who aren't set up for success here anyway!
