Construction Worker

About This Role

Alright, let's get straight to it. We're hiring an Industrial Electrician for a heavy metal manufacturing plant in Detroit, MI. If you've spent years elbow deep in the electrical guts of big industrial machinery, this is probably your kind of place.

The Work

You'll be the go to person for anything electrical on the floor. That means keeping massive metal processing equipment; think presses, furnaces, and rolling mills; up and running. It's not just about fixing things when they break; it's about knowing why they broke and stopping it from happening again.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical components, controls, and power systems on heavy machinery.
  • Diagnose problems with temperature controls, sensors, and recording devices used in heating and forming metal.
  • Work on PLC systems that run the automated equipment.
  • Maintain and repair AC and DC drive systems that handle large mechanical loads.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to cut down on unexpected downtime in a 24/7 operation.

The environment is real industrial. You're working around molten metal, high heat, serious voltage, overhead cranes, and fast moving machinery. A sharp focus on safety isn't just a policy here; it's how you get home every day.

What You Need to Bring

We need someone who's seen it before. This isn't a training ground for residential or light commercial work.

  • Industrial maintenance electrical experience from a tough environment: metal manufacturing, foundries, steel processing, heavy machining, or something similar.
  • A solid background troubleshooting AC and DC drives, especially high horsepower or variable frequency setups.
  • Hands on experience with PLC troubleshooting. Basic programming knowledge is a big plus.
  • The schedule follows the plant: you must be available for off shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to keep things moving.
  • A genuine respect for safety protocols in high energy settings is non negotiable.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Journeyman level experience is preferred but we're open to strong candidates who are ready for this level of work without that specific certification.

The Details & What You Get

The pay rate is $36 to $38 per hour. On top of that:

  • There's a $5,000 sign on bonus waiting for you.
  • You can earn monthly performance bonuses.
  • Overtime pays time and a-half Monday through Saturday; Sundays are double time.
  • The company has a profit sharing program.
  • You get 10 paid holidays each year.
  • After 6 months you'll have 2 weeks of PTO that rolls over year to year if unused at year end (subject to plan terms).
