About This Role
The Gist
OPENLANE needs an Independent Contractor to inspect vehicles at dealerships in Detroit, MI. It's a 1099 gig, so you call the shots on your schedule. We need someone with real mechanical experience and your own tools. If you want to work with minimal guidance and be your own boss, this could be a good fit.
What You'll Actually Do
- Perform vehicle inspections at car dealerships in Detroit, MI.
- Use a basic OBD II scanner to check for diagnostic trouble codes.
- Document condition and mechanical issues found during inspection.
- Work independently, no one breathing down your neck.
- Set your own hours ; work when it makes sense for you.
What You Need
- Minimum of 5 years of automotive experience as a vehicle mechanic or equivalent mechanical background.
- A working iPhone with a data plan. We do not currently support Android devices for performing inspections.
- A basic OBD II scanner.
- Reliable transportation to get to dealerships in Detroit, MI.
- A valid driver's license.

Important Details
