Your next role as an Ophthalmic Technician at UCHealth
This is a full time, onsite position based in Denver, CO. You'll work days, 80.00 hours per pay period (that's two weeks). The pay ranges from $24.11 to $36.17 per hour, depending on your relevant experience. No hybrid or remote option here ; you'll be in the clinic.
What you'll do
You'll work directly under an eye care provider to help deliver patient care and keep clinic flow moving. This means performing core ophthalmic testing procedures and diagnostic tests. You'll also administer medications, assist with minor procedures, and help with the prescription refill process ; all under the provider's direction. Documentation, patient education, and charge entry are part of the role too. You'll need critical thinking skills, the ability to make decisions on your own, and comfort working with minimal supervision.
- Assist eye care providers with patient care tasks
- Perform basic ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures
- Administer medications as delegated by the provider
- Help with minor procedures and prescription refills
- Handle documentation, patient education, and charge entry
- Ensure proper care and use of medical instruments
- Support the flow of patient care throughout the clinic
What you need
You'll need a High School diploma or GED. And you must hold one of these certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if you're working as a contact lens technician.
You should also have either 2 years of sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or an ophthalmic internship. Before your start date, you'll need a current BLS card through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. That BLS or CPR card must be good through at least sixty days after you're hired.
And you'll need to work well under pressure ; it's a fast paced clinical environment.
