About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job. It's not just a route; you're delivering concrete, and once that load is in the drum, the clock is ticking. We need someone who gets that pressure and handles it with a cool head. The truck is your responsibility from the moment you do your pre trip to when you park it back at the yard.
What you'd be doing
You'll drive a ready mix truck, getting concrete to construction sites on schedule and as ordered. It's a hands on job where you're the one in control of the delivery and the equipment.
- Run through your daily maintenance checks and keep your truck clean, inside and out.
- If something sounds off or needs fixing, you report it right away.
- A big part of this is keeping things tidy and safe, both at our plant and on site.
- You follow all the rules; ours, DOT's, everything. No shortcuts.
- Paperwork isn't optional. Pre trip inspections, post trip reports (DVIRs), work orders; they all need to be accurate and done on time.
- Speak up if you see a safety issue or something that doesn't look right.
- We all pitch in where needed, so there might be some crosstraining on other tasks.
The basics we need from you
This isn't an entry level gig. You need real experience behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle.
- Either two years specifically driving ready mix trucks, or one year of general commercial driving experience.
- A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is mandatory.
- Your attendance has to be solid. The schedule can include irregular hours and scheduled Saturdays.
- Sometimes business needs mean working out of a different BURNCO plant for a shift.
- When a site is behind or traffic is a mess, we need professionalism, not frustration.
- You should be able to learn about different concrete mixes, admixtures, slump tests; the whole technical side of what you're hauling.
- A genuine focus on safety and good customer service has to be how you operate.
- An active registration in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is required for all CDL drivers.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not an absolute deal breaker if your experience is strong.
The details of the role
This is a full time, permanent position based out of our plant at 5901 York Street in Denver, CO. It's classified as safety sensitive.
- The hiring process includes a PSP review, MVR check, background check, a pre employment drug test, and passing a DOT physical.
- You're outside in all kinds of Colorado weather; heat, cold, rain, snow. Dress for it.
- PPE like safety shoes, vest glasses ear plugs hard hats are standard daily gear; some jobs need extra protection too****************
