VISTAR

CDL-A Driver

VISTAR·Denver, CO

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this driving job in Denver, CO. I've been placing drivers here for a while, and the big thing everyone asks about is the freight. Here it is: it's almost completely no touch. You're not breaking down pallets by hand at every stop. That changes the whole day.

The Work & Schedule

You'll be driving a tractor trailer or straight truck, delivering various food and beverage products to customers. Routes are local, over the road, shuttle, or overnight; you'll run whatever's needed to get the job done safely and on time.

  • Your typical schedule is Monday through Friday.
  • Shifts are around 10 hours, with an average departure between 3 AM and 5 AM.
  • You might have up to one overnight per week, depending on business needs. When that happens, you get per diem and they book you into safe hotels.

A Day on the Job

It starts and ends with safety and paperwork. You own your vehicle and your logbook.

  • Perform all DOT pre trip and post trip inspections on your tractor and trailer.
  • Report any safety issues or repair needs right away.
  • Check your loaded freight for proper securement and verify counts against invoices.
  • Drive your assigned route, delivering orders according to schedule.
  • Unload products into the customer's designated area. This involves some handling; you'll use equipment like a two wheeler or lift gate to move cases that typically range from 60 to 90 pounds.
  • Do damage control checks, scan items, and follow procedure for any order issues.
  • Get delivery signatures from customers and collect payment (cash or checks) if it's required.
  • Load any customer returns onto your trailer and secure everything properly.
  • Keep your daily log of hours of service updated accurately to meet all Federal DOT, state, and company rules.
  • Tidy up your tractor and loading dock area. At the end of shift, secure all equipment and finish your paperwork.

What You Need to Bring

The requirements aren't a suggestion; they're firm. If you don't have these, we can't move forward.

  • A valid Class A CDL is mandatory.
  • You must be at least 21 years old.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the last three years is essential.
  • A current DOT Health Card, or you need to be able to pass the physical to get one.
  • You have to pass a pre employment drug test and a road test.
  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience is required for this position.

The Experience We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has six months of commercial driving experience in customized or specialty operations.

The Good Stuff

A sign on bonus of up to $10k is available; it’s paid out over one year.
