Registered Nurse
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this RN job at The Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio in Dayton, OH. It's a joint venture between Premier Health and Encompass Health. I've been placing nurses here for a while, and they run a serious operation. They're looking for someone who gets that inpatient rehab is its own world.
What you'd be doing
The day to day is about owning the patient's journey. You're the point person.
- You supervise care and treatments for your patients.
- Leading patient assessments and building those tailored care plans is central to the role.
- A big part of the job is addressing patient concerns directly; you're their main advocate on the floor.
- Building real relationships with patients and their families matters here. Understanding their specific situation is how you help guide recovery.
- You'll collaborate with different departments constantly to make sure care is coordinated. Sometimes that means jumping in to provide direct patient care yourself.
- The team will look to you as a resource, especially when they're dealing with complex cases or have questions.
- And honestly, one of the best parts? Celebrating the wins with your patients. In rehab, every milestone counts.
What you need to bring
They're pretty clear on the must haves and the nice to haves. Here’s the list straight from them.
- A valid RN license, as required by state regulations. Non negotiable.
- CPR certification has to be current. They'd really like it if you have your ACLS too, but it's not a strict requirement to start.
- If you're already a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN), that's a major plus. If not, it's something they prefer you work toward.
- They'd prefer you have at least one year of experience working in a rehabilitation hospital setting. It’s just a different pace and focus than acute care.
The schedule & pay
This is a full time position. You'll be working 36 hours per week, with three 12 hour shifts. The shift is nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Pay starts at $34 per hour and can go up to $48 per hour, depending on your experience and credentials.
Benefits that start day one
Their benefits kick in immediately, which isn't always the case. Here’s what they offer:
- Medical insurance coverage through multiple plan options (Dental and Vision are also available).
- A 401k plan with company matching contributions to help you save for later.
- Paid Time Off that covers vacation time, holidays, and sick days all in one bank.
- Continuing education support because they expect you to keep growing.
- The whole suite of insurance: life insurance; disability insurance; even accidental death & dismemberment insurance coverage is included.
A bit about Encompass Health
The institute is part of Encompass Health. They're a national player in inpatient rehab; over 150 locations and growing fast with about 36,000 people on the team. They've picked up some notable awards like being on Fortune's list of Best Companies to Work For® and named one of the "World's Most Admired Companies." Their internal motto; "The Encompass Health Way"; talks about leading with empathy, doing what's right, focusing on the positive, and standing together. It sounds like corporate stuff until you see how it plays out on the units there; it actually informs how teams operate.
