Industrial Maintenance Technician

The Gist

ABM Industries needs an Industrial Maintenance Technician in Dayton, OH. This is a Monday through Friday gig, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, plus you'll be on call for emergencies. Pay lands between $26 and $28 an hour. You'll get a full benefits package ; more on that later.

What You'll Actually Do

You're not just fixing stuff in a vacuum. You're the person giving day to day direction on maintenance tasks and working with a crew of other technicians on site. Coordination matters here.

• Perform and document HVAC and plumbing PM and troubleshooting. Think filters, belts, coils, leaks, fixtures, basic diagnostics.
• Support basic grounds tasks and handle seasonal snow and ice response when it's needed.
• Communicate clearly with client contacts and the people using the building. Give timely updates, close out work orders, and know when to escalate something.
• Keep records of technical knowledge on equipment and concepts.
• Handle a heavy workload of calls. Inform the customer when you arrive and when you leave, and when you plan to return.
• Manage your own workload and job scheduling. Complete all required paperwork promptly and accurately.
• Get customer signatures on all service reports ; before work begins if it's a spot job.
• Keep your manager in the loop on customer feedback.
• Provide technical training and knowledge to clients, customers, and your team as needed.
• Collaborate across multiple departments and representatives within the company.
• When the supervisor is around, you might direct smaller work groups. Report any team performance issues to the supervisor.

What You Need

• You must be 18 or older.
• A valid, unexpired driver's license is required.
• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
• Three to five years of prior general maintenance experience.

What Would Help

• Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
