Sheet Metal Worker

UpchurchยทDallas, TX

About This Role

The Job

Upchurch is a full service building engineering company that's been around since 1970. We do mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work across the southeastern US. We're looking for a Sheet Metal Foreman to lead a small crew in Dallas, TX.

This is a hands on leadership role. You'll be working alongside your crew, not just pointing at things from a distance. You're there to set the pace, show them how it's done, and make sure the work gets done safely and on time.

What You'll Do

You'll supervise a crew of sheet metal workers, assign their daily tasks, and make sure everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing. You'll pass along instructions from the superintendents and project managers. New people on the crew will look to you for orientation and to understand what's expected.

You'll assess each crew member's skill level and set clear benchmarks for quality and productivity. Apprentices need mentoring, and you'll make sure the journeymen are handling that. You'll keep morale up and teamwork strong.

On the safety side, you'll run weekly toolbox talks, make sure the daily Task Hazard Analysis gets done before anyone starts work, and keep the work area clean and hazard free. You'll participate in safety investigations when needed.

Planning falls on you too. You'll study the blueprints and project schedules, make sure your crew has the tools and materials they need, and adjust assignments when something comes up. If something's off in the plan or schedule, you flag it right away.

You'll inspect the work as it goes and after it's done. If something doesn't meet code or quality standards, you fix it. You'll keep a daily foreman log, track hours and attendance, and help the superintendent with production tracking.

What You Need

  • 7+ years of sheet metal experience
  • 5+ years as a qualified tradesperson
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal systems, codes, and blueprints
  • Familiarity with other construction crafts
  • Proven experience supervising a crew
  • Solid communication and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable with paperwork and administrative tasks
  • Understanding of OSHA and safety regulations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • OSHA 30 certification

Pay & Benefits

Salary is based on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance. You get paid time off and holiday pay. There are opportunities for professional development and certification assistance if you want to keep growing.
