The Job
This is for a Rehab RN position at Medical City Dallas on their 33 bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. You'll work full time nights, 7 PM to 7 AM, in Dallas, TX. It's a unit where you're dealing with patients who need structured, goal directed care to regain function and independence.
What You'll Actually Do
You handle direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. That means you assess health status, figure out what's going on (or what might happen), and collaborate with patients and the interdisciplinary team to plan and deliver care.
- You'll perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document accordingly.
- Formulate a nursing care plan based on nursing diagnoses and identified problems.
- Implement nursing care within your scope of practice while complying with other relevant laws.
- Develop teaching plans for patients around health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
- Provide education, emotional support, and age specific care to build a partnership with the patient and their family.
- Handle care for multiple patients ; either directly or by assigning/delegating to other team members.
- Evaluate patient responses and outcomes from therapeutic interventions.
- Use critical thinking to analyze clinical data and current literature when making decisions about nursing practice.
- Assign tasks to licensed RN staff and delegate to unlicensed staff according to current BNE rules in this structured setting for patients with predictable or unpredictable needs.
What You Need
- A graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- An Associate's Degree in Professional Nursing (at minimum).
- A BSN required within 24 months of hire into this RN position ; so if you don't have it yet, you'll need a plan to get it started soon after starting here.
- A minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital within the last three years. This isn't flexible ; that recent acute experience matters here in Dallas, TX.
The Extra Stuff That Helps
>Caringly - Experience in Post Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation is preferred but not required. - Experience using the Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF PAI) is preferred. - Current license in Texas or a Compact license accepted. - Current BLS provider ; must be from AHA or ARC. - Advanced Certification in Inpatient Rehab Nursing (CRRN) is preferred.
