CubeSmart runs self storage properties, and they're looking for a Property Manager/Leasing person in Dallas, TX. This isn't a desk job where you sit all day. You'll be on your feet, walking the property, talking to customers face to face, keeping things clean and running smoothly. It's equal parts customer service and light maintenance work.
Your main goal? Rent storage spaces, sell store merchandise, manage the leasing process from start to finish. You'll also handle payments through their Point of Sale system and make daily bank deposits. And yeah; you'll make courtesy calls to customers who are late on payments.
What you'll actually do day to day
- Build relationships with customers by figuring out what they need for self storage and offering solutions that work for them. Aim for 5 star service every interaction.
- Walk the property regularly to perform lock checks on units and show available spaces to potential renters.
- Meet monthly sales goals and metrics ; this role has targets.
- Sweep, mop, change light bulbs, clean out storage units after tenants move out, and handle similar light maintenance tasks.
- Open and close storage doors (think up to 50 lbs of effort there).
- Keep restrooms clean, check landscaping, parking lots, paving, fences, walls and doors so everything meets CubeSmart's standards.
- Work independently but also as part of a team ; depends on the day.
The schedule details
Most shifts end by 6:00 p.m., which is nicer than a lot of retail gigs. Sundays off at most locations (though some spots may require Sunday hours). But here's the catch: you have to work Saturdays without exception.
Who does well in this role
A positive personality goes a long way here. Maybe even more important than experience. You need genuine energy for helping people ; that's what CubeSmart calls "delivering a WOW!" service. If you've worked retail or hospitality with diverse customer bases before, that helps but isn't strictly required if you learn fast.
- A valid driver's license plus car insurance with reliable transportation you can use during the workday.
- Able to stand for periods during the shift; also kneel down sometimes or crouch low when cleaning units near ground level. Might need to bend over regularly or climb up on a ladder occasionally too. Crawling? Only rarely when accessing tight storage corners or cleaning under shelving areas inside units after move outs happen.
The pay package
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on your specific background plus bonus opportunities layered on top of that hourly wage each week rather than monthly or biweekly since CubeSmart pays weekly ; meaning money lands in your pocket more often than most jobs offer nowadays which makes budgeting easier honestly doesn't it sound nice having cash flow like that?
