The Work
You'll be modifying patient care within the RN scope of practice, focusing on pediatric and adult congenital heart patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in the electrophysiology lab. Think cath and EP procedures.
- You're supervising those invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures to make sure aseptic and sterile technique is followed, no exceptions.
- A big part of the day is monitoring physiologic and hemodynamic data during procedures.
- You'll act as both circulating and scrub nurse.
- Continuously monitoring and recording the patient's condition on the MacLab/CardioLab system is critical.
- The role includes assisting with equipment maintenance and managing supply inventory for your cases.
- You're also the point person making sure all the needs of the Cath Lab team are met for each procedure.
Coordinating & Leading Care
You'll make assignments for other licensed staff (LVNs, RNs) and delegate tasks to unlicensed staff, following BNE rules. It's about coordinating care for patients whose needs can be predictable one minute and totally unpredictable the next.
You're accountable for the quality and continuity of nursing care. That means acting as a patient advocate to direct care and ensure safety. You'll integrate information management and solid communication into everything you do, serving as a healthcare advocate to promote quality services. And we expect you to participate in; and often lead; activities focused on best practices and process improvement for the department.
What You Need to Bring
- You must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
- An Associate Degree is required.
- They need at least 1 year of experience from you; no travel is required for this position.
- Get your Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within your first 30 days on the job.
- You've got 6 months from your start date to obtain both Advanced Cardiac Life Support and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
