Oncology RN

Alright, let's talk about this PRN night shift position on the oncology unit at Methodist Charlton in Dallas, TX.

You'd be working 12 hour nights, 7 PM to 7 AM. It's a PRN role, so the schedule is as needed, but you're looking at one shift per week. The unit itself is the Dr. Stephen and Marilyn Mansfield Oncology Unit, part of a 314 bed teaching hospital that's Magnet designated. They've got a Level III Trauma Center and a Level II NICU on site, and they've won a bunch of awards for cardiac, stroke, and joint care.

The Work

You're providing direct nursing care using the full nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation. It's about creating a safe, therapeutic environment for your patients and your team.

• Your core focus is ensuring quality patient care throughout their entire episode.
• A big part of the job is clear communication: with your team, with patients, and with their families. You're responsible for the nursing components of patient and family education.
• You'll handle medication and IV administration safely and accurately.
• Keeping patient records complete and timely is non negotiable.
• It also means taking personal initiative for your own performance and professional growth.
• And of course, supporting the hospital's mission and values while promoting a cooperative work environment is part of the deal.

What You Need to Bring

The requirements are pretty straightforward, but they're firm.

• You need to be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• A current Texas RN license (or eligibility for one) is mandatory.
• They also require a current Basic Life Support certification.
• For experience: at least six months working as an RN.
