The Job

You’re the person patients turn to when they walk through the door. At Methodist Health System in Dallas, TX, the Medical Assistant Patient Representative role is about keeping everything running smoothly while making sure every patient feels heard. You’ll support physicians, handle clinical tasks, and be the backbone of a busy practice.

This isn't a solo act. You'll work with a team that expects clear communication and real accountability. The goal? Improve the patient experience every single day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take patient histories and record vitals before the physician comes in
  • Give intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections and document everything completely
  • Assist physicians with nursing care that follows clinic policies and procedures
  • Handle prescription refills through fax, E Rx, or phone calls and update the patient medication module
  • Prepare FMLA forms and other documents for physician review and signature ; things like home health orders and prescription pre certs
  • Unpack and organize medical supplies and vaccines, keeping the supply closet neat and stocked
  • Check for expired medication each month, keep proper documentation, and handle disposal
  • Disinfect instruments and maintain QA reports for the autoclave; follow infection control procedures to the letter
  • Use complete discretion when discussing patient information; confidentiality is non negotiable
  • Build relationships across departments to keep the whole team moving in the same direction
  • Look for ways to improve ; your own skills, the patient experience, and the team around you

What You Need to Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
  • A National or Registered Medical Assistant certification ; or you must obtain it within 90 days of your hire date
  • A valid Basic Life Support certification
  • 2 or more years of professional medical assisting in a practice setting (this is preferred, not required)
  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • You communicate clearly, both in writing and out loud
  • You can build real working relationships across departments and personalities
