About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this mechanic opening. We're BURNCO Texas, and we need a Lead Mechanic in Dallas, TX who actually knows their stuff. This isn't just about turning wrenches; it's about keeping our fleet running so we can build things that last. If you're the type who hears a weird noise and already has a hunch what's wrong before you even look, I want to hear from you.
What you'd be doing
You'll handle the full spectrum of keeping our plant and equipment operational. That means a mix of planned maintenance and solving problems as they pop up.
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems. You'll use specs, blueprints, and manuals to get it right.
- Daily visual inspections of machinery and equipment are part of the routine. Diagnosing sounds to pinpoint malfunctions is a key skill here.
- You'll operate mobile equipment when it's needed for the job.
- Welding, repair, and fabrication work comes with the territory.
- Keeping detailed records is non negotiable. You'll enter service data, maintain parts inventory, and log your daily preventative maintenance on your service vehicle; that includes fueling, cleaning, checking tires/lights, and fluid levels.
- Servicing pumps and motors is on the list.
- Communication is huge. You'll need to update the Plant Coordinator and Production Supervisor quickly on major issues. You'll also communicate directly with co workers using hand signals and two way radios.
- The job involves general clean up of your work area. Sometimes you might train or orient new co workers. And occasionally, you could make service calls to our other plants.
What you need to bring
This role needs solid experience and a specific set of skills. Here’s what we're looking for:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Truck Mechanic is required.
- A good working knowledge of mechanics related to trucks and general maintenance.
- You have to be able to diagnose engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, suspensions, and brakes.
- Proficiency with power tools, welders, cutting torches/chains, and various safety devices is expected.
- A demonstrated knowledge of proper procedures like lockout/tagouts is mandatory for safety.
- You must be proficient with computers and program systems.
- The ability to pass an MVR check for a clean driving record is required.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Class A or B certification is preferred but not mandatory at hire; it's something we value highly though if you have it already or are willing/able to obtain one after being hired (we will discuss further).
A few more things that would really make you stand out:
-
- Experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4 software
- Experience with concrete mixers, aggregate haul trucks
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent
- Provide own personal tools up to ¾" drive size. We supply specialty tools.
