Job Overview

This Cardiovascular ICU RN position puts you at the center of critical cardiac care. You'll manage complex patients recovering from open heart surgery, heart transplants, and other major cardiothoracic procedures in a high acuity setting. The role is based in Dallas, TX, offering a chance to work within some of the area's leading hospital systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for critically ill cardiovascular patients, including hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive drips.
  • Operate and troubleshoot advanced equipment like intra aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices, and continuous renal replacement therapy machines.
  • Coordinate closely with surgeons, cardiologists, and perfusionists during post op management and any emergent returns to the OR.
  • Educate patients and their families on complex care plans and recovery milestones, providing clear communication during stressful times.
  • Document with precision in the electronic health record, ensuring every detail of the patient's status and interventions is captured.

Requirements

  • A current, unencumbered RN license valid for the state where Dallas, TX is located.
  • At least two years of recent experience in an adult ICU; CVICU or cardiothoracic step down experience is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS are mandatory. A CCRN or CSC certification will make your application stand out.
  • The stamina for 12 hour shifts where prolonged standing, lifting, and rapid response to emergencies are part of the day.
  • A calm demeanor under pressure; you're making split second decisions that directly impact patient survival.
