About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Senior Automotive Technician at Overseas Service Haus in Dallas, TX. We're part of the Sun Auto Tire & Service network. I've been doing this long enough to know a real shop when I see one, and this is it. You're not a number here; you're the person who fixes the problem.
What you'd be doing
You'll diagnose and repair customer vehicles. That means using your knowledge to figure out what's wrong and then fixing it right the first time. You're handling complex and heavy duty repairs that not everyone can do.
- Work from Multi point Inspections and Repair Orders with efficiency and accuracy.
- Your diagnoses have to meet MAP guidelines, plus dealership, manufacturer, and our own company standards.
- A big part of the job is explaining what you found and what needs to be done to people who aren't mechanics; like service managers, advisors, or the customers themselves.
- You'll recommend necessary services to keep vehicles running safely and document everything clearly.
- Following safety procedures is non negotiable; you report any concerns straight to your supervisor.
- The schedule needs some flexibility for Saturdays, but listen; you'll never work a Sunday. Ever.
What you need to bring
We need someone who knows their way around an engine bay and a diagnostic computer.
- Previous experience as an automotive technician or mechanic is required. If you've got ASE certifications, those can stand in for some of that experience.
- You have to show you know how to use computerized diagnostic equipment.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory, and you must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is needed; technical school training is a definite plus.
- If it applies in our location, you need a State Inspector License or the ability to get one within your first 30 days on the job.
The environment & physical side of things
Let's be straight: this is shop work. It isn't an office job.
- You'll be around moderate to loud noise, dust, fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, and other materials. Some are hazardous. You'll use PPE like safety goggles when needed.
- The shop temperature swings with the weather outside; it can get very hot or very cold.
- You're on your feet up to eight hours a day, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching regularly. You need full range of motion in your arms and hands.
- You'll frequently handle parts and tools; regular lifting is around 10 pounds, but you've got to be able to lift up to 70 pounds frequently too.
- Clear communication with customers and team members is essential. Your vision needs to be sufficient for detecting color, depth, and refocusing quickly.
The pay & benefits
The money reflects the skill level we need. The flag rate pay scale is $30.00 to $45.00 per hour. Where you land on that scale depends directly on your specific experience and certifications.
The benefits are solid:
