About This Role

Hey, it's me again. I've been recruiting for school based therapy roles for over a decade, and I still get excited about this one. It's not just a job; it's using music to build bridges for kids who need a different kind of key to unlock their potential. If you're an MT BC who believes in the power of a melody to teach, connect, and heal, I want to talk to you.

The Work

You'll be providing music therapy services to K 12 students with disabilities in a school setting in Corpus Christi, TX. Your day is built around them.

  • Start with formal and functional assessments to figure out where a student is and what they need.
  • From there, you build individualized treatment plans that actually tie into their IEP goals. This isn't off the shelf stuff.
  • Then you're in the room, delivering direct therapy. You're targeting communication, social emotional skills, behavior, cognition, and motor development through music.
  • A big part of the job is collaboration. You'll work directly with teachers, other therapists, and families to make sure the skills stick outside your sessions.
  • You own the documentation: session notes, progress data, maintaining compliant IEPs. It's detailed work that matters.
  • You're a voice in ARD/IEP meetings and annual reviews, providing the clinical insight that shapes a student's plan.

What You Need To Bring

Let's be specific about the non negotiables first.

  • Your Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT BC) from the CBMT is required. That's the ticket.
  • You need a Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Therapy from an AMTA approved program (or equivalent coursework).
  • We'll process DOJ and FBI Live Scan background clearances. You have to be cleared to work in schools.
  • This role demands serious organization and clear communication, both on paper and when you're talking with teams or parents.

A few things that would make your transition smoother:

  • A year or more of experience doing music therapy in a school or with a pediatric population.
  • If you understand special education law, IEPs, and how ARD meetings run, you'll hit the ground faster.
  • Knowledge of evidence based practices for diverse groups is a huge plus.
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum or those with communication disorders aligns perfectly with our caseloads.

The Details & What We Provide

The pay range for this full time position is $40 to $50 per hour. The schedule follows the school calendar in Corpus Christi, TX.

We back up our commitment to you with real support:
