About This Role

The Gig

Alameda Oaks Nursing Center needs a Speech Language Pathologist in Corpus Christi, TX. You'll work with patients on physician referral, doing direct rehab care in speech therapy. Everything we do follows all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Set, assess, and adjust realistic and functional goals ; this is for SLPs with their CCCs only
  • Oversee and evaluate care delivered by SLP CFYs if you're in your Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Follow speech therapy treatment plans for patients under direction of the supervising SLP CCC, matching Federal and State guidelines
  • Chart your work appropriately and on time
  • Use therapy software correctly and accurately
  • Show real customer service and keep a positive attitude toward patients
  • Help evacuate patients if needed
  • Show up dependably and regularly
  • Think clearly, use reasoning and good judgment
  • Communicate and work productively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move throughout your shift
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English

What You Need

You must be a graduate of an accredited speech therapy program with at least a Master's or equivalent in SLP. You need ASHA certification (your CCCs) or be eligible for a 9 month Clinical Fellowship Year to earn them and meet ASHA credentialing criteria. Once you have them, you maintain them.

You must currently be registered and licensed in the applicable State, and keep that license active and in good standing.

One year of experience in post acute care or a related setting is preferred.

You need CPR certification upon hire or must get it during orientation, and keep it current.

Other Stuff to Know

  • You'll take part in community health matters and projects when appropriate
  • You should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • You'll work with patients, families, support departments, and others to plan for patient needs
  • You need to demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
  • You must be able to make independent decisions when the situation calls for it
  • You should know the practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines for post acute care
  • You'll implement and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • You need to perform well in all competency areas, including patient rights and safety/sanitation
  • Keep professional working relationships with associates and vendors
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Show integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training
