About This Role

What You'll Actually Do Here

You're the person patients and nurses count on when breathing gets serious. This isn't a desk job. You'll be in the thick of patient care, making real time decisions about airways, ventilators, and treatments. Here's what that looks like day to day:

  • Assess patients thoroughly: breath sounds, airway patency, cuff pressure. You document everything.
  • Run diagnostic tests to figure out if respiratory therapy is even needed, and if so, how the patient is responding.
  • Deliver the therapies: oxygen, aerosol meds, chest physiotherapy. The hands on stuff.
  • Help place artificial airways when that's what's needed.
  • Start mechanical ventilation, monitor it, and keep it running right.
  • Watch for therapeutic response. If something's off, you notify the provider and step in.
  • Transport patients who are on ventilators. That's a team effort.
  • Respond when things go sideways. Emergent situations. You make sure the airway stays open and ventilation keeps going during resuscitation.

What You Need to Bring

  • An Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • A valid (NBRC RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/RCP State) credential.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of your start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitate certification must be obtained within 6 months of your start date.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) must be obtained within 6 months of your start date.
  • A Respiratory Therapist or Practitioner license for the state.
