About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this PRN Cardiac Cath Lab Radiology Tech role at Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi, TX. It's a fill in position, but it's a critical one. You're the person making sure the cath lab runs smoothly when they need you.

What you'll be doing

You'll assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. That means you're scrubbing in, running the x ray table, and managing all the adjunct equipment. You need to know cardiovascular anatomy and physiology inside and out, including basic EKG interpretation.

  • Explain procedures to patients and get them prepped.
  • Monitor vital signs and hemodynamics throughout.
  • Operate fluoroscopy equipment with a firm commitment to ALARA radiation safety principles.
  • You have to be proficient with gear like IABP pumps, IVUS, LVADs, and thrombectomy devices.
  • A big part of the job is archiving digital data and manipulating post processing images so the physician has everything they need.
  • You'll handle equipment preventive maintenance records.
  • And you've got to be ready to function in a Code Blue situation. It's part of the territory.

The specifics we need

This isn't an entry level gig. We need someone who's been in the mix.

  • Your credential needs to be either ARRT R in Radiography or RCIS as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist.
  • An Associate Degree is required.
  • You also need at least one year of direct experience in this kind of work.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (or equivalent CPR/Healthcare Provider certification) is mandatory; you have 30 days from your start date to get it if you don't already have it.

The deal: schedule & benefits

This is a PRN position. You're covering shifts as needed, which includes being on call. When you're called in, you're functioning solo; scrubbing and running the table yourself.

The benefits are actually pretty comprehensive for a PRN role, supporting health, life, career, and retirement. Here’s what’s on the table:

  • Medical plans that cover a lot of common services with low or no copay. This includes prescription drug coverage, behavioral health, telemedicine visits, and even free AirMed medical transportation.
  • You can add on dental and vision if you want it.
  • There's life insurance, disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts available.
  • A whole menu of supplemental plans: accident protection, critical illness coverage, hospital indemnity insurance. Even auto, home, identity theft protection, legal counseling, long term care coverage, moving assistance… pet insurance too. It's a long list.
  • Fertility and family building benefits are provided through Progyny.
  • Free counseling services for emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing are included for colleagues and their families each year. There's also adoption assistance plus child and elder care resources available through our provider network at no additional cost beyond your plan premiums if enrolled in medical coverage; otherwise these services may be accessed via fee for service arrangements subject to change without notice based upon availability from third party vendors who administer such programs independently from us but we strive hard every day so please check current offerings before applying because things do evolve over time!

A quick note: eligibility for some benefits can vary by location.
