Warehouse Associate

The gig

This is a warehouse selector role at McLane Company. The work happens in a cold storage facility, so you are going to be exposed to cold temperatures for long stretches. You'll use a reach truck and pallet jack to pull, sort, and stack products. Sometimes you have to hand stack items if they're off balance or sitting in the wrong spot. You'll also load outgoing trucks, move product between the loading dock and the warehouse, and move stuff around inside the warehouse. You might work in Dry, Refrigerated, Perishables, Freezer, or other areas. You'll shrink wrap and label orders that leave, and you'll remove shrink wrap from incoming ones. You'll review documents to check quantity, identity, availability, and condition of what you're moving. And you'll keep your workspace clean. Other tasks might come up too.

Schedule and pay

Monday through Friday, with a start time of noon. Training could be on a different shift though, so keep that in mind. You also need to be available for weekends when they need you. Pay starts at $21.00 per hour during training. Once you hit 100% production, that goes up to $24.25 an hour. And there's potential for extra pay incentives on top of that.

What you need

You have to be at least 18 years old. You need to be able to do accurate visual inspections, and you'll be repeatedly lifting 50 pounds or more. One year of distribution warehouse experience is preferred but not required ; that includes operating a reach truck, pallet jack, and forklift. You also need to be able to read, write, and understand English well enough to follow work instructions, safety protocols, and other job related communications. This is directly tied to keeping things safe and running right.
