You train residents on recognizing normal anatomy, detecting anatomical abnormalities, evaluating fetal well being, and proper transvaginal cervix imaging. You'll give didactic and technical training on various OB/GYN ultrasound topics, deliver educational lectures for residents and staff, and participate in weekly OB/GYN ultrasound didactics. You also contribute to resident evaluations.
Another 20% involves directing and supervising the ultrasound teaching program as it relates to women's health patient care. You'll work with Women's Health Center Clinic management to make sure patient care needs are covered.
The remaining time breaks down like this:
- 5% updating and maintaining standard operating procedures for the OB/GYN department's ultrasound, keeping them in line with medical and industry standards
- 5% using word processing for letters and reports, plus spreadsheet software for databases, reports, and simple calculations
- 4% establishing and following quality control standards in ultrasound and monitoring, ensuring compliance and documentation, maintaining AIUM Accreditation for the OB/GYN clinic, and evaluating new equipment when requested
- 2% reviewing residents' ultrasound exams on the Labor and Delivery unit for quality control and educational progress
