About This Role
Alright, let's get straight to it. We need a Surgical Tech in Columbus, OH. This is the person who makes sure everything is where it needs to be before, during, and after a procedure. It's a hands on role where you're right there with the surgical team.
What You'll Be Doing
Your main focus is supporting the flow of the operating room. That means three big things.
- First, you prepare. You review surgeon preferences, gather all the instruments and supplies for a case, and set up a sterile field.
- During surgery, you're passing instruments, maintaining that sterile field, and acting as a second assistant to the surgeon. That can involve holding extremities, assisting with casting or splinting, washing grafts, or operating a skin stapler for wound closure.
- You'll also mix medications on the sterile field once an RN has verified them.
- Afterward, you help break down the room. You assist with cleaning equipment, returning items to their proper places, restocking for the next case, and mopping floors between procedures.
A big part of this is knowing what you can and can't do. You'll handle specimens (after completing an annual competency), change out camera equipment during endoscopic procedures under direct supervision, and assist with patient positioning.
But there are clear lines. You won't be injecting medications, suturing, using cautery, prepping the patient's skin (unless you've met an annual competency), or handling any documentation for the legal medical record.
The Specifics We Need From You
The requirements are pretty straightforward.
- A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- You must have a current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
The Schedule & What We Offer
This is a full time position working 40 hours per week. The schedule will be first shift hours.
The pay range for this role is $22.00 to $33.00 per hour. Your exact rate will depend on your experience and qualifications when you come in.
And yes; there’s a sign on bonus of $7,500 available for external applicants who agree to a one year work commitment. This also applies if you worked here before but left more than 90 days ago.
