About This Role

What this job is

This is an Executive Director role at a senior living community in Columbus, OH. You'll run the whole place ; the financial health, the care, the food, the building, the staff, the resident experience. It's a big job, and it's one where your decisions directly shape whether people feel at home or just housed.

Wallick Communities is 100% employee owned. That's not just a line in a benefits packet. It means the work you do every day ; keeping residents safe and happy, managing a budget, leading a team ; also builds your own financial future through company profitability.

What you'll actually do

  • Oversee every department: nursing, office operations, culinary, sales, maintenance, and life enrichment. You're not doing each job, but you're the person making sure they all work together.
  • Manage the community's budget ; annual projections, forecasting, hitting key performance indicators. You own the numbers.
  • Keep occupancy where it needs to be. That means working with sales, marketing the community, and maintaining a reputation that brings people in.
  • Handle resident and family concerns directly. When something goes wrong, you're the one who makes it right, and you keep communication open so problems don't pile up.
  • Make sure the community is properly staffed. That means hiring, scheduling, and creating an environment where people want to stay.
  • Comply with government agency requirements and company standards. You'll complete necessary reports and keep everything above board.
  • Foster a work culture that's inclusive and engaging. You lead by example, and your team should feel it.
  • Build relationships with outside partners ; vendors, regulators, referral sources ; so the community runs smoothly.
  • Do whatever else is needed to maintain operational excellence. The job description ends with "perform other related duties as assigned," and if you've done this work before, you know that's real.

Who you are

  • You have at least 5 years of experience as an Executive Director running an assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing community. Not just managing a department ; running the whole place.
  • You've implemented and fostered a culture of operational excellence. That's not a buzzword here; it means you've actually made things run better and can point to how.
  • You're a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Or you meet one of these alternatives: 3,000 hours of direct operational responsibility for a licensed senior housing, health care, residential care, adult care, or group home facility; 100 credit hours of post high school education in gerontology or healthcare; a bachelor's degree; or a licensed healthcare professional credential (OT, PT, Physician, PA, RN, LPN, Social Worker, etc. ; full list at Ohio Administrative Code 3701 17 07.1).
  • You lead teams that actually deliver results. You don't just manage people; you get things done through them, and the community reflects that.

What you get

  • Pay on demand access to your earned wages ; you don't have to wait for payday.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance that kicks in within two weeks of starting.
  • Gym membership reimbursement and paid parental leave.
  • 401K with company contribution.
  • Paid time off, including the paid parental leave mentioned above.
  • Tuition reimbursement, training, and professional development ; they invest in people who want to grow.
  • A team oriented culture where you make a real difference in residents' lives. The stories are genuine; residents like Maurine (who found an "instant family") and Evelyn (who celebrated her 105th birthday) are part of what you'll help create.
  • Employee ownership. Every day you work, you're building equity in the company's success.
