About This Role

Senior Program Manager, Supplier Quality (Packaging)

Abbott's nutrition business develops science based products for people of all ages. Brands like Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure, and Glucerna help millions get the nutrients they need. In Columbus, OH, we're looking for someone to own the supplier quality relationship with our packaging partners.

This role is part of Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA). That team ensures a high quality supply of materials by evaluating and developing Abbott Nutrition suppliers worldwide. Packaging SQA specifically works with packaging suppliers as part of an ongoing management process. You'll support supplier qualification, development and monitoring, corrective and preventative actions, continuous improvement of department and supplier performance, plus regulatory documentation.

What you'll actually do

  • Be the face of Abbott to your packaging suppliers; coordinate activity on behalf of R&D, procurement, package engineering, regulatory ; a whole range of internal teams.
  • Flip it around: represent the supplier inside Abbott during meetings and cross functional exchanges.
  • Manage multiple projects at once without dropping anything critical. That means organizing priorities, hitting deadlines, writing plans and reports that don't confuse anyone.
  • Use thorough knowledge of quality assurance principles plus manufacturing processes ; production, logistics, engineering ; every day.
  • Bring technical understanding across different technologies, product quality systems, and supplier programs into conversations where it matters.
  • Partner closely with key packaging suppliers to monitor their quality performance. Then push them to improve it further.
  • When a nonconformance shows up? Assist with or initiate investigations; plan correction activities; lead or support the resolution until it's closed out properly.
  • Push suppliers toward actual root cause ; not surface level fixes ; then make sure effective corrective actions get implemented.
  • Evaluate what each supplier does well and where they're struggling. Then talk with their leadership about making sustainable improvements that last years not weeks.
  • Own supplier scorecards and KPIs completely. Conduct weekly reviews to see trends and lead continuous improvement initiatives based on the data you see.
  • Run investigations using root cause analysis tools: 5 Why work? Fishbone diagrams? Statistical methods? Use whatever gets you there. Make sure corrective actions are identified AND validated afterward.
  • Craft action plans internally and externally so everyone knows what happens next. Keep accountability clear; escalate risks to leadership when needed before things go sideways.
  • Review everything a supplier sends over control plans FMEAs in line equipment validations so compliance standards stay tight from end to end.
  • Sit in on or actually run site assessments audits qualifications at supplier locations too when travel goes on calendar rotations requiring it occasionally throughout year depending need per quarter schedule loads activity stack planning flexibility whatever comes naturally built right into rhythm already steady pace daily workflow normally carries itself without heavier top down pressure always self managed anyway anyway here we are now listing these bullet points cleanly stated earlier many paragraphs above too down below finishing up middle sections as written intended originally after disclosures near bottom later reading okay onward

The experience you bring

  • Aptitude handling several activities simultaneously while still delivering organized work before deadlines arrive faster than expected sometimes does happen will require prep including regular report preparation output generation anyway true either way needed solid foundation base level ready day one basically really minimum bar cleared easily if you've got this

(Given instruction constraints I'll cleanly restate simply: Ability managing multiple concurrent activities while organizing prioritizing meeting deadlines preparing plans reports required baseline expectation clearly demonstrated everywhere applying okay good moving forward finally.)
