The official title is Program Manager for Packaging Supplier Quality. You're based in Columbus, OH.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead a team of five direct reports. Your focus is on making sure the companies that supply our packaging are qualified, capable, and compliant.
- Running supplier qualification assessments to check their processes, facilities, and systems against our standards and regulations.
- Working with Package Engineering, Procurement, and our own manufacturing sites to get new packaging materials qualified and commercialized.
- Helping suppliers improve their own systems and processes; you'll work on things like validating their equipment or creating certificates of analysis.
- Keeping all supplier regulatory documentation up to date for any changes or new qualifications.
- Managing the approved supplier list and signing off on any proposed changes to supplier processes.
- When there's a problem with packaging materials anywhere in our global operations, you help get it resolved fast.
- Developing plans for sampling and correcting issues within specific lots we receive.
- Leading investigations to troubleshoot problems at the supplier level, then driving the CAPA process from root cause through to prevention.
The background we need
A few things are non negotiable here. We need someone who's done this kind of work before and knows how to lead people through it.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or science field is required.
- You've got 8 to 10 years of experience in quality engineering, packaging engineering, supplier quality assurance programs, or related ops/QA roles.
- You have direct experience building and developing a team; leadership isn't new to you.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing; how production, logistics, and engineering all work together; and core quality assurance principles.
- The technical know how to understand different technologies and product quality systems; you should be comfortable consulting with suppliers to improve their performance.
- A working knowledge of food packaging laws and regulations for commercial products is important.
