Pharmacist

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this pharmacy internship. This isn't a standard full time gig; it's built around an academic schedule. You'd be working every other weekend during the school year, then switching to full time hours over the summer break. It's for someone who's actively in the process of becoming a licensed pharmacist.

The Work

You'll be under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, getting the practical experience you need. The day to day is a mix of technical tasks and learning the judgmental aspects of the job, all according to Ohio Board of Pharmacy rules.

  • Obtain, prepare, and label pharmacy products for final distribution.
  • Review and interpret orders for patient care under a pharmacist's direction, performing any necessary interventions.
  • Handle billing, monitoring, and usage documentation for inventory and proper reimbursement.
  • Keep the inventory stocked so everything runs smoothly.
  • Answer questions from other healthcare professionals and customers, either on the phone or in person.
  • There's a chance you could help train new technicians, externs, or other interns on technical duties.
  • You'll pitch in on special projects when they come up.

The focus here is on safety, quality, and efficiency in everything you do.

What You Need to Bring

The baseline requirement is a high school diploma or GED. But the real key is your status as a student.

  • You must have an active Pharmacy Intern license from the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy before your first day.
  • You need to be actively pursuing your Registered Pharmacist license. That means you're currently enrolled in a College of Pharmacy program. P1 students are preferred.
  • For international pharmacy graduates, you must have satisfactorily passed the FPGEE and either the TSE or TOEFL ibt through the NABP.

The Schedule & Details

The shift is variable. Your scheduled weekly hours are listed as "As Needed," which aligns with that school year/weekend and summer structure. This position is based in Columbus, OH.
