The Role
Our Nutrition business is looking for a Brand Manager to lead Glucerna in Columbus, OH. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, sales, and supply chain. You'll own everything about how Glucerna Nutritional Drinks show up in retail ; from displays and promotions to distribution strategy and trade execution. It's a commercial leadership position with real P&L ownership.
You won't just be managing a brand on paper. You'll be in the trenches with retail sales, shopper marketing, category management, finance, supply planning, and analytics teams. Your decisions on trade spend, display placement, and promotional calendars will directly impact quarterly and annual goals.
What You'll Actually Do
- Track financial performance, consumption trends, pricing moves, promotion effectiveness, budget status, and supply chain data; adjust plans fast when market conditions shift
- Define the consumer display strategy and trade promotion plan for Glucerna; focus on down funnel tactics like media targeting, search campaigns, and in store promotions
- Act as the primary commercial lead on S&OP process stages ; align supply with demand expectations, push strategic decisions forward to hit plan targets, flag risks early
- Serve as commercial lead for PIER projects; coordinate with PPMO to keep innovation launches aligned with retail priorities and executed well at store level
- Drive salesforce effectiveness through integrated planning cycles and national sales meeting content
- Build continuous learning plans around consumer insights, shopper behavior, competitive activity, category trends ; turn those insights into strategies that grow the brand
- Lead the broader retail brand team on trade promotion workstreams; set direction for tasks and milestones to meet KPIs
- Cultivate strong working relationships across the extended brand community including sales operations and other key stakeholders
- Travel about 20% of the time ; mostly to retail partners or internal planning sessions
What You Need to Bring
- Experience: 5–8 years in brand management within pharma/healthcare or consumer packaged goods industries
- Education: BA or BS degree in marketing, business or business analytics. An MBA is preferred but not required if your experience is strong enough.
- People leadership: At least 2 years managing a brand management team (preferred)
- Shopper & syndicated data fluency: Working knowledge of AC Nielsen IRI CCT+ Home Scan or similar sources matters here.
- A solid grasp of core marketing concepts: Brand positioning exercises brand architecture development SWOT analysis competitive assessment writing marketing objectives/strategies doing consumer segmentation work ; you should know these cold.
- A sharp analytical mind: Deep understanding of P&L interdependencies; you can spot what's driving or hurting profitability without needing someone else to point it out first.
- A track record of getting things done: Demonstrated success running complex strategic business plans start to finish while managing multiple timelines.
- The ability to influence without authority: Cross functional collaboration isn't optional here; you need to persuade not just command.
- Crisp communication skills: Whether it's presenting trade plans or pushing back respectfully on unrealistic supply asks words matter in this job.
