The Job in a Nutshell

BoldAge PACE needs a Certified Medical Assistant in Columbus, OH. You'll work under the Clinical Services Director alongside the Primary Care Providers and nursing staff. This isn't a desk job; you'll be hands on with our participants, helping them stay independent and living at home with dignity. It's a real chance to make a difference for older adults.

What You'll Actually Do

You'll keep the clinic running smoothly and our participants comfortable. Here's the day to day:

  • Check in with the clinic team each day to manage how participants move through the clinic.
  • Work with schedulers on follow up appointments.
  • Fax and scan clinical documents like scripts and participant paperwork for specialist appointments, making sure everything is HIPAA compliant.
  • Enter medication history for new enrollees into the pharmacy portal.
  • Get immunization history from participants during initial assessments and from medical records, then enter it into the EMR.
  • Answer the clinic phone and coordinate follow ups with clinic staff.
  • Administer immunizations as prescribed, as long as it's within your scope of practice.
  • Talk with participants directly ; give them instructions, educational materials, and follow up information as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Room participants: take their weight and other vitals, escort them to exam rooms, and get them ready to be seen.
  • Sometimes call participants with normal lab results if the nurse or primary care provider directs you to.
  • Draw blood and collect lab specimens within your scope of practice when clinic staff requests it.
  • Help the physician and nurses with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assist with medical procedures as staff requests, with training, and within your scope.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked, check for expired supplies monthly, and dispose of them properly.
  • Do blood sugar checks, give medications, and perform skin care as prescribed.
  • Help keep exam rooms clean and follow infection control standards.
  • Make sure all lab specimens are labeled and ready for the courier to pick up.
  • Track clinic supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Only act within your authority to practice.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Keep everything about participants, clients, and families confidential.
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with proper biohazard precautions and standard precautions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow safety policies.
  • Go to continuing education classes and required staff and training meetings.
  • Keep up your professional affiliations and certifications.
  • Support Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Take on other duties as needed within your scope of practice.

What You Need to Bring

You need a minimum of 1 year of experience working as a CMA in a healthcare setting. A High School Diploma or GED is required. You also need a current Certified Medical Assistant License and BLS Certification.

You should know the principles, practices, standards, and techniques of a CMA. That includes phlebotomy, EKG, blood glucose monitoring, and specimen collection. You need to be aware of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment. You should know how to use and maintain medical equipment. You need to be good at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co workers, medical staff, and the public. You need to communicate clearly and effectively. And you need to be able to manage medications within your scope of practice.
