About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Med/Surg RN role at OhioHealth in Columbus, OH. I've been placing nurses here for years, and they run a solid operation. This is about bedside nursing on an orthopedic med/surg unit. It's real work, but it's the kind of place where you can build a career.
The Work You'll Do
You're the nurse providing general care to patients and their families. You're collaborating with the whole healthcare team and you're accountable for your nursing practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing. That means owning it.
Your shift breaks down into core responsibilities. You'll spend a good portion of your time on assessment; performing initial and ongoing evaluations of your patients' health status. Another big piece is planning; based on what you find, you document the nursing interventions needed to get to the right outcomes.
Then you put that plan into action and evaluate how it's going. You document the response and whether those outcomes are being met. And as part of the team, you revise the care plan when you need to.
A slice of your focus is on leadership through process improvement. They're a High Reliability Organization, which is a fancy way of saying safety, quality, and efficiency aren't just posters on the wall; they're how every single task gets done. Your job duties require that focus.
