About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this trailer mechanic job in Columbus, OH. It's a hands on role where you're the one keeping the fleet rolling. You'll do the inspections, run the maintenance, and handle repairs so everything runs safely and doesn't break the bank. The shop's got the big tools and diagnostic gear; you bring your own hand tools and know how.
What you'll be doing
- Handle all required inspections and preventive maintenance on trailers, converter dollies, light duty vehicles, and other company equipment. You've got to keep it all legal for federal, state, and local regulations.
- That means everything from regular servicing to electrical diagnostics, repair, and part replacements.
- You're on the hook for logging every bit of work; creating, updating, and closing out work orders in our maintenance system is a big part of the day.
- Helping manage parts is part of it too. Think purchasing, receiving inventory, and making sure parts get charged to the right job.
- And yeah, there's general cleaning and repair work to wrap it all up. It's a full spectrum job.
What you need to bring
We're looking for someone who's been turning wrenches on fleet trailers for a while. Here’s the specifics:
- A solid 4 years of experience in fleet trailer maintenance and repair. If you went to a technical school for this stuff, that can count for up to 2 of those years.
- You need to understand the rules of the road; knowledge of FMCSRs (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) and DOT compliance is mandatory.
- A current air brake certification is required.
- Be comfortable using computer based diagnostic software from OEMs and component makers.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A valid driver's license is a must have. A Class A CDL would be great to see, but it isn't a deal breaker if you don't have it.
- ASE certification? We'd prefer it, but it isn't required to apply.
The practical stuff
This isn't a desk job. Be ready for physical work outside in all kinds of weather. You should be able to lift 50 pounds or more without a problem. For tools, you supply all your own hand tools (½” drive or under). We provide all the major shop equipment, diagnostic gear, and even a secure toolbox for you.
Pay & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25 - $35 per hour. Mauser offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance and dental coverage. You also get paid time off along with other competitive benefits they provide.
How to Apply:
If this sounds like your kind of workday, apply through the platform with your details. Make sure your experience with trailers and your certifications are clear on your application.
