About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Neuro Interventional Radiology Tech role. It's a specific gig. You're the right hand to the Neuro Interventional Radiologist for some pretty advanced procedures. Think diagnostic work, stroke interventions, cerebral angiograms, coiling, dealing with vascular malformations. You need to know the equipment inside and out; the X ray gear, hemodynamic monitoring; and your sterile technique has to be on point.
What you'll do
Most of your day, about 85% of it, is being that competent assistant during procedures. You're in the room, making it happen.
- You'll greet patients when they arrive and check their chart for things like proper consent.
- If you see anything off or missing, you report it to the RN or physician right away.
- Walking patients through what's about to happen is a big part of it; explaining procedures, giving instructions, answering their questions.
- There's also room turnover and helping transport patients to keep things moving.
The last bit involves radiation safety. You'll assist with quality assurance in the labs and for protective gear like lead aprons. That means checking for tears, pulling damaged equipment from service, and keeping good records, sometimes in coordination with the main Radiology department.
What you need to bring
The credentials are non negotiable here. You must have these:
- A State of Ohio Radiologic License.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
