About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. I'm looking for a Registered Nurse to join the Labor and Delivery team in Columbus, OH. This isn't just about tasks on a checklist; it's about being the guide for patients and families during one of the most significant times in their lives. The unit runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and this is a night shift position.

What You'll Do

You're the RN accountable for your nursing practice as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing. That means you own the full cycle of care for your assigned patients.

  • You perform assessments. Initial ones, ongoing ones, functional health status checks; you're piecing together the whole picture for each individual.
  • Based on what you find, you document a plan. You figure out the nursing interventions needed to get to the best possible outcomes.
  • Then you put that plan into action and evaluate how it's working. You revise things as needed, collaborating with the rest of the multidisciplinary team.
  • A part of your role involves delegating tasks appropriately to LPNs and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, following the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • We operate as a High Reliability Organization (HRO). So every duty you perform needs a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. You'll also participate in process improvement work that targets clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.

What You Need to Have

The non negotiables are pretty clear here. We need to see these credentials from day one.

  • A current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio. If you have a multi state compact license, it needs to be in good standing.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.

The Timeline for More Qualifications

There are a couple of important certifications you'll need to get after you start, but we give you time.

  • You must obtain your C EFM (Certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring) within one year of your hire date.
  • A BSN degree is required within five years of employment if you don't already have one.
  • You'll also need NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification; this is expected at one year from hire as well.

The Schedule & How To Apply

This is a night shift role. The scheduled weekly hours are 24 hours per week on Labor and Delivery Unit 1.

A quick note: This job profile outlines the main responsibilities but isn't an exhaustive list. Things can change based on what our patients and the unit need.
