What this role is about
Allied Universal® Event Services handles crowd management and event staffing for thousands of venues every year. This is a part time event security gig with weekly pay, starting at $25.00 an hour. You'll work summer concerts, international soccer matches, and other events in Columbus, OH.
This role is about keeping things safe and running smooth while guests are having a good time. You're the person who checks bags, enforces access control, and makes sure everyone follows the rules. It's also about customer service; you give directions, offer suggestions, and help people enjoy their experience.
What you'll actually do
- Help prepare for events and execute the day of plan
- Let appropriate people into each venue; collect or scan tickets, verify wristbands and badges
- Direct traffic coming in and out of the venue
- Screen guests during entry by searching bags, using hand wands or metal detectors, checking IDs
- Watch for security breaches at key checkpoints to protect guests, staff, and venue assets
- Respond quickly to potential crowd control issues; escort unruly guests when ejections happen
- Understand the policies and regulations that differ from venue to venue
- Give people a positive welcome at your entrance point ; whether it's a gate, aisle, concourse area or somewhere else ; plus helpful directions so their night goes better
The requirements (no wiggle room)
- You must be at least 18 years old
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- A valid California Guard Card is required before you start working here
- You need to pass a background check and a post offer drug/alcohol test; there might be additional screening if driving is part of your duties down the line
- Able to use independent judgment on the spot when situations come up
