You'll manage the full fleet of equipment, from the primary collection vehicles to the secondary support stuff. Your main focus is making sure we hit our profitability targets by controlling costs, developing your team, and keeping safety standards high. It's a hands on leadership job where the results show up in every metric that matters.

What You'll Do Day to Day

  • Keep the fleet safe and reliable so operations never have to wait for a truck.
  • Evaluate the fleet regularly to make sure our maintenance standards are solid.
  • Manage the maintenance managers in your area, pushing for performance and cost control.
  • Review requests for new equipment against corporate guidelines and objectives.
  • Get the most out of every vehicle asset we own.
  • Make sure every shop is properly staffed and every mechanic is trained on the right stuff.
  • Keep the vehicle management systems running effectively.
  • Make sure everyone follows WM's Mission to Zero standards for safe, efficient operations.
  • Hit every financial review date and corporate program deadline on time.
  • Help build the budget when it comes around.
  • Create a positive, team oriented vibe by developing and motivating people.
  • Keep the shops clean and well maintained through regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Handle all personnel stuff: selecting, coaching, training staff and managers, evaluating performance.
  • Provide input on termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline managers according to WM policy and make sure they do the same for their teams.
  • Give training and presentations when needed, always staying professional.

  • A valid Driver's License.

Where You'll Work

This is an office based gig. You'll be in a professional office environment using standard office gear like computers, phones, and copiers. Nothing crazy physically, but we'll make reasonable accommodations if you need them to get the job done.
