Cath Lab Technologist

What You'll Be Doing

You're the right hand to the Interventional Cardiologist. Your main focus is assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures. That means you're scrubbing in, monitoring patients, and circulating in the room. You need to know your stuff; the X ray equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique inside and out.

• Greet patients when they arrive and check their chart for things like informed consent.
• Explain procedures clearly, give instructions, and answer any questions they have.
• Report any absences of required data or abnormalities straight to the RN or physician.
• Help with turning over procedure rooms and transporting patients.
• Assist the Radiation Safety officer with quality assurance checks on the labs and radiation protective apparel. You'll follow radiation safety principles, check lead aprons for damage, report issues, and pull any faulty gear from service.

The Must Haves

These aren't preferences; they're requirements. You need all of this to get in the door.

• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• You must be ARRT registered.
• A current State of Ohio Radiologic License is mandatory.
• You need both BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications from the American Heart Association.
