Cardiac Sonographer

What You'll Do

You'll work in the Cardiac Imaging Lab at OhioHealth in Columbus, OH as a Cardiac Sonographer. This is a PRN (as needed) role with a variable shift schedule. Your main job is performing diagnostic echocardiograms and handling the follow up paperwork for each procedure. Patients and their families need to feel cared for and respected, so you'll bring a courteous approach to every interaction with them, coworkers, physicians, and hospital guests.

Here's a breakdown of your daily focus:

• About half your time is spent performing ultrasound imaging.
• Roughly 20% of your time goes to preparing required reports.
• You'll maintain files (10%) and equipment (10%).
• Provide needed statistics.
• Handle phone calls to schedule appointments and give out information (5%).
• Review echocardiogram results with physicians and do quality assurance activities (5%).

What You Need to Qualify

You need a high school diploma or GED, plus a two year allied health program ; something like sonography, radiology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, or nursing. On top of that, you're either already registered as an RDCS or RCS, or you're registry eligible and will get registered within 12 months of hire. BLS certification (Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association) is required too.
