Therapist
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Physical Therapy Team Leader at Encompass Health in Columbia, SC. I've been placing people here for years, and they run a serious operation. They're the biggest inpatient rehab provider in the country. If you like structure, support, and actually seeing your patients progress, this is a good spot.
The Work
You're leading the PT team day to day. That means you're helping the Director of Therapy Operations run things. You'll handle scheduling for your staff, help with training new hires, and be the main point of contact between the therapy department and the rest of the hospital.
But you're not just pushing paper. You're still treating patients. You'll have your own caseload. The goal is to build those relationships; you need to understand where someone is physically, but also mentally and emotionally, to really help them recover. Seeing those wins with patients is the best part of the job.
What You Need to Bring
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited therapy program is required.
- Your state license or certification has to be current.
- You'll need CPR certification; if you don't have it yet, you have to get it within 30 days of starting.
- We're looking for at least three years of experience in physical therapy or leadership roles. At least two of those years need to be hands on clinical work.
- It'd be great if you were active on their Therapy Clinical Ladder or had some specialty certifications, but that's more of a plus than a must have.
The Schedule & Support
This is a full time position. You'll be using some pretty advanced tech, but you won't be figuring it out alone. The team environment is collaborative; people actually help each other out here.
Benefits (They Start Day One)
- Medical, dental, and vision plans. They're designed to be affordable for full timers, part timers, and their families.
- Paid time off that builds up as you're here longer.
- Help with tuition if you want more education, plus other chances for professional growth.
- A 401(k) plan with a company match and an employee stock purchase plan.
- Flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts are available too.
The Big Picture
Encompass Health has over 150 hospitals. They've been called one of the "World's Most Admired Companies" and landed on Fortune's list of Best Companies to Work For. The culture focuses on empathy and doing what's right for the patient. It's a big organization that feels smaller when you're in it.
