Registered Nurse
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this RN role at Encompass Health in Columbia, SC. I've been placing nurses here for a while, and what they do is pretty specific. It's inpatient rehab. You're not just passing meds; you're walking people through some of the toughest recoveries of their lives. The small wins matter here, and you get to see the whole journey.
The Work You'll Do
You're the nurse running the show for your patients. You'll supervise care and treatments, lead their assessments, and build the care plans that guide their entire stay. A big part of it is understanding what each person needs to heal; not just physically.
- You build real relationships with patients and their families. Knowing their story helps you help them.
- Collaboration is everything. You'll be talking with therapy teams, doctors, and everyone in between to make sure care is coordinated.
- Be the go to for your colleagues when they have questions or are dealing with a complex case.
- And honestly, one of the best parts: you get to celebrate when a patient hits a goal. Those milestones are why you're here.
What You Need to Bring
Let's be straight about the requirements. They need a current RN license for this state. You also have to have your CPR certification; if you've got ACLS too, that's a definite plus.
- A year of experience working in a rehabilitation hospital is preferred.
- If you're a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN), or interested in becoming one, they really like that.
Schedules & The Offer
They're hiring for full time, part time, and PRN positions right now. Shifts are days or nights. There's also a weekend option where you work weekends and get an extra shift differential; they call it the "Weekend +1."
For full time RNs, there's a $10,000 sign on bonus on the table.
Benefits That Start Day One
The benefits kick in immediately, which isn't always the case. They've got medical, dental, and vision plans that are designed to be affordable for both full time and part time employees and their families.
- Your paid time off starts accruing from day one.
- There's tuition reimbursement if you want to keep learning.
- A 401(k) plan with company matching and an employee stock purchase plan.
- You can set up flexible spending or health savings accounts.
The Bigger Picture
Encompass Health isn't a small operation; they're a national leader in inpatient rehab with over 150 hospitals. The team is over 36,000 people strong. They've won some notable awards like being on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list. The culture focuses on empathy, doing what's right, and standing together. It's a place that values diversity and creates an inclusive environment for its staff and patients.
