The role
UCHealth in Colorado Springs, CO needs a Sterile Processing Technician to handle entry level core sterilization work. This is a part time position on a flex shift. The schedule works out to 40 hours per pay period, which is every two weeks.
Pay ranges from $23.49 to $30.53 an hour, depending on your relevant experience.
What you'll actually do
- Decontaminate and clean instruments and equipment, following the manufacturer's instructions for use (IFUs). You'll disassemble items before picking the right cleaning method.
- Visually inspect every instrument and piece of equipment before you assemble and package them.
- Sterilize instruments and equipment based on the IFUs. You'll check that all external indicators, filters, and labels are correct.
- Run routine cleaning and sterilizer testing. That includes biological monitoring, leak testing, and bowie dick tests when needed.
- Document your work using instrument tracking software or paper records, depending on what's required.
Who should apply
You need a high school diploma or a GED. You must also be certified as a CSPDT (Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD, or hold a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
They prefer candidates with at least three months of certified experience.
This job takes critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. You'll need to think on your feet and take appropriate action when things come up.
