About This Role
Hey there. I've been placing nurses in surgery centers for over a decade, and I know what makes a good PACU fit. This isn't about filling a slot; it's about finding the right person for a specific team at Pinnacle Surgery Center in Colorado Springs, CO. They're part of HCA Healthcare, but they've got their own rhythm. The role is PRN, so the schedule is as needed.
What You'd Be Doing
Your main focus is safe, effective post op care until the patient is discharged. It's a responsibility that requires attention and calm.
- You get your area ready before patients arrive, making sure all equipment and supplies are where they need to be.
- Managing airways is a core part of the job; you'll need to be proficient with those techniques.
- A big part of your shift involves monitoring; vital signs, temperature, cardiac status; all according to policy.
- You're skilled with IVs: insertion, maintenance, and removal.
- Every patient gets a head to toe assessment using an approved scoring system, and you document it thoroughly.
- Checking dressings and surgical sites is routine; you know what to look for and when to alert the surgeon.
- Finally, you create the environment. Your patients and their families should feel safe and comforted from the moment they wake up until they meet discharge criteria.
The Specifics They Need
The requirements aren't just a wishlist. They're non negotiable for patient safety and center protocols.
- Your nursing education needs to be an Associate Degree, an RN Diploma, or higher.
- They want at least one year of clinical nursing experience. A background in Preop, PACU, GI, ER, ICU, or Surgery gives you a real edge.

- You must have BCLS certification when you start (and online certs won't cut it).
- You'll need to get your ACLS within 30 days of hire.
- The same 30 day window applies for PALS if the facility requires it.
The Pay & The Package
The hourly range they've provided is $34.67 to $49.59. They're upfront that typical hires come in below the midpoint; your exact rate will depend on your specific skills and experience compared to their current team.
