About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this network gig. It's for a Network Engineer III on the AEGIS program, which is all about supporting NASA's big corporate network. You'd be part of a sizable engineering team tasked with keeping that whole operation running and evolving.

What you'd be doing

The main focus here is wireless. You'll be designing, configuring, and troubleshooting the enterprise network infrastructure with a heavy emphasis on Wi Fi tech. That means using your RF knowledge and experience with Cisco wireless to make sure everything performs well, stays reliable, and is secure.

  • You need to understand different Catalyst based wireless setups inside and out; FlexConnect, Bridge Mode, and especially Fabric Enabled Wireless (SD Access Wireless).
  • Designing wireless solutions that are robust, scalable, and secure for NASA's various needs.
  • Gathering requirements for complex wireless projects; you'll work with stakeholders from other network areas like LAN or security to make sure everyone's aligned.
  • Using Ekahau software to model and map out how the wireless network will perform.
  • Figuring out the best spots for access points and ensuring good RF coverage everywhere from offices to outdoor spaces.
  • Managing Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to handle network access control policies for both wired and wireless connections.
  • Troubleshooting network incidents when they pop up and resolving them quickly to limit downtime.
  • Handling network configuration, inventory, and performance monitoring using Cisco Catalyst Center (also known as DNAC).
  • Building custom dashboards and alerts in Splunk specifically for network incidents, performance problems, or security events.
  • Keeping all the documentation up to date; configurations, processes, how you troubleshoot things, how incidents were resolved.
  • Providing guidance and making independent decisions for the Government customer on best practices for operating and maintaining the network; you'll create documents and presentations they can refer back to later.
  • Working directly or indirectly with NASA customers, Technicians, other Network Engineers or Architects to implement design changes on their infrastructure or to identify and resolve escalated customer impacting issues.

The basics we need from you

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security or something closely related.
  • A combined 10–15 years of experience working on both WLAN (wireless) and LAN (wired) networks in large enterprise environments. That total experience is key here; it’s not one or the other; it’s both together over that timeframe.
  • The ability to obtain at least a Public Trust clearance. You have to get it and keep it while you're in this role.
