
About This Role
The Gig
Cargill is a salt supplier for all kinds of industries ; food processing, water softeners, swimming pools, ice melt, animal feed, you name it. They're looking for a Packaging Operator to work full time on the 2nd shift in Cleveland, OH. You'll be the person making sure the product gets packaged right, safely, and on time.
What You'll Actually Do
- Troubleshoot and operate packaging equipment
- Verify and record production quantities (what's been produced and what's been consumed)
- Talk with your coworkers and management during shift exchanges to keep everyone in the loop
- Make sure the product meets Food Safety standards and customer specs at the packaging stage
- Perform preventative maintenance on the packaging equipment
- Follow all safety rules and regulations ; no exceptions
- Keep your work area safe and clean
- Other duties as they come up
What You Need to Have
- The right to work in the U.S. ; not based on a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third party employer
- You must be at least 18 years old (that's Cargill's rule for production facilities)
- You can handle physical work like bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting (with or without a reasonable accommodation)
- You're okay working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions ; heat, cold, dust, loud noise, and all that ; while wearing PPE
- You can operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
- You can understand and communicate in English (both verbal and written)
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- You can work overtime, weekends, holidays, or different shifts when customer demand calls for it
Stuff That Helps But Isn't Required
- A forklift certification
- Prior manufacturing or military experience
