About This Role
What this job is
This Territory Manager role puts you in control of your own book of business in Cleveland, OH. You're the person customers count on ; not just for delivery, but for advice. You'll help restaurant owners and foodservice operators figure out what to put on the menu, how to price it, and what products make sense for their operation. US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the country, and you'll be representing a mix of exclusive brands and national names.
What you'll actually do
- Own the customer relationship in a team based selling model. That means you're the main contact, not the only contact.
- Talk customers through the ordering platform, give menu consultations, recommend specific products, and help them build pricing strategies that actually work for their business.
- Sell. Your success is measured by how much you sell, how much case volume you grow, and how many new accounts you bring in. You'll do sales presentations and tailor your pitch customer by customer.
- Work alongside US Foods Specialists on the biggest opportunities and new account openings. You'll also coordinate with marketing, supply chain, and customer service to make sure product gets where it needs to go.
- Find new business. That means using market intelligence databases, business directories, leads from existing clients, membership in industry organizations, and trade shows or conferences.
- Manage delivery issues when they come up. You'll work with the routing schedule from transportation, and troubleshoot problems like mis picks, short loads, or stock outs.
- Know the market. That means staying current on product innovations, what competitors are doing with their products and pricing, and passing that along to customers as a value add.
- Drive your personal car to do regular check ins, site visits, and follow ups with customers in Cleveland, OH.
What you won't do
This role has no direct reports. You're out in the field most days, visiting customers in whatever weather Cleveland, OH throws at you. Some lifting or carrying up to 75 pounds may come up occasionally.
What you need to bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record.
- At least one year of sales experience is preferred, but not strictly required.
- Experience in foodservice, culinary work, restaurant management, or hospitality is preferred.
- You need to be comfortable giving presentations and communicating clearly, both in writing and in person.
- Building relationships with customers and internal teams matters. Cold calling to develop new business is a real part of this job.
- You should be competitive and actually want to exceed your goals.
- Problem solving, organization, and some negotiation ability are expected.
- A team up mentality ; you'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regularly.
- Tech savvy. Microsoft Office and CRM tools like Salesforce are a plus, but you'll get training.
