About This Role
Who we are
Brinks Home protects over a million people across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Our reputation is built on platinum grade protection, award winning customer service, and a team of professionals who actually know their stuff. We're not trying to be everything to everyone; we focus on doing one thing well ; keeping our customers safe.
What you'd be doing in this role
You'll visit customer homes throughout the day to install, service, and inspect low voltage electronic security equipment. This is a hands on job ; you'll be working directly with panels, peripheral devices, and audible/visual alarms. You'll troubleshoot technical problems as they come up and replace system components when needed.
- Diagnose what's causing problems or failures in alarm systems so you can figure out exactly what needs repair.
- Drive to customer residences to perform service calls (you'll need a clean driving record for that).
- Conduct walkthroughs with customers ; review the work order together to make sure the system meets their needs and expectations.
- Install and test every piece of equipment to confirm proper functionality and signal verification before you wrap up.
- Educate customers on how their new system works and give them a full demo afterward.
- Spot opportunities where someone could get more out of their existing system and recommend those upgrades.
- Keep yourself safe on the job ; follow safety practices to prevent injury or property damage.
- Tidy up your workspace at each job site so customers are happy once you leave.
The experience you need
We're looking for someone who knows alarm panels well: 2GIG, Qolsys, Ademco, GE, DSC, DMP ; those are not just names; they're tools of your trade. Here's what else matters:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record (no way around it).
- A working knowledge of how an alarm system operates top to bottom.
- A low voltage license or an alarm installation certification like NICET I (that one is required).
- The physical ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds with some carrying, pushing, pulling at times ; plus climbing ladders regularly. You'll also do occasional balancing; frequent stops, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- The willingness to climb into attics or down into crawlspaces during work days when that's what the job requires (and it will require it sometimes). Also basements too depending on which house you're at that shift timeline wise doesn't change much really except location specifics vary though not dramatically ever thankfully enough said there but still part of everyday reality here yes indeed importantly again nonetheless finally stated clearly now: yes absolutely comfortable working high off ground while ladder steady underneath feet secured properly first before reaching anything else as rule sounds simple but never assumed anymore these days helps knowing upfront obviously right?
Benefits that actually matter (a full list including specifics)
