The Work Itself

This is a pipe welder/fitter role for the Process/Utility Piping Systems group at EGC Construction, part of the Messer family of companies. You'll work in Cincinnati, OH on general, commercial, and industrial construction projects ; including electrical work, millwrights, pipe fitters, and structural steel detailing. Ideal experience is in Food and Beverage and Pharmaceutical Industries, but that's not a hard requirement.

• Weld stainless pipe and sanitary tubing for process and utility piping systems
• Inspect your welds to make sure they meet product specifications
• Handle brazing, welding, and polishing of round and square stainless steel tubing
• Assist foremen and other pipefitters/welders with layout and installation as needed
• Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs on process and production equipment
• Carry out planned maintenance, inspection, and installation on that same equipment
• Follow all job site safety rules and regulations, keeping your work area clean and safe
• Identify safety hazards to protect yourself and others around you

What You'll Need to Bring

You need to certify in TIG welding ; that's non negotiable. If you don't have OSHA 10/30 certification, that's okay; the company will pay for you to get it before you start. But it's preferred if you already have it.

• Experience with purge welding sanitary tubing; orbital welding of sanitary tubing is a plus
• Ability to perform sanitary welding on stainless steel piping and fittings
• Comfort using facing tools, Fischer saws, and other process related tools
• General knowledge of piping layout and routing
• Familiarity with general piping systems
• A combination fitter/welder background is a plus
• Willingness to be trained and certified in orbital welding
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation and solid communication skills
• Must be willing to work within a 50 mile radius; willingness to travel to other states for work is a bonus
• Able to work in a variety of seasonal and weather conditions
• Physical abilities: standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, seeing, and reading
• Must have full auditory, speaking, and communicating capabilities
