ADB Companies Inc·Cincinnati, OH

About This Role

The Role

ADB Companies is hiring a Laborer II to support outside plant (OSP) installation on utility construction projects in Cincinnati, OH. This isn't an entry level or training only role ; you need proven experience in a utility construction environment already. You'll work on projects of various sizes and scopes, and you'll be expected to operate equipment on your own with only limited guidance from experienced operators.

The starting pay is $24.00 per hour, and that can vary based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.

What You'll Do Day to Day

  • Manual labor in all weather conditions ; hand digging, installing utilities, moving materials, inspecting ground conditions, and managing traffic control
  • Set up and close out job sites by loading and unloading trucks, taking photos, setting cones and traffic signs, and prepping equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment like directional drills, mini excavators, hydro trucks, or bucket trucks without needing constant guidance from a senior operator
  • Meet production expectations set by your Foreman or management
  • Train alongside experienced Operators and Foremen on installations and equipment operations ; you're expected to take initiative here
  • Read prints and construction drawings
  • Locate utilities at a basic level under supervision, including using the 811 locate process and solving problems based on what you find, following ADB's policies
  • Complete daily redline and production reports at an entry level
  • Follow and champion safety procedures by participating in pre task planning, good catches, and safety assessments
  • Train entry level laborers on ADB's operating and safety procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested

What You Need to Bring

  • 1+ year of utility construction experience required
  • 6+ months operating at least one of these: directional drill, hydro truck, mini excavator, or bucket truck ; required
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to drive a company vehicle, strongly preferred
  • Class A CDL strongly preferred
  • Competent Person and OSHA 10 certifications strongly preferred (if you don't have them, you must be able to get both within 6 months of hire)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

This is a safety sensitive position. You'll work in a variety of physical positions ; sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing. You may be exposed to loud noises on site. And you'll be required to wear common protective gear: safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.

You also need to be willing to travel nationwide. That's a non negotiable for this role.

A Few Things That Matter Here

ADB's culture is built around what they call being "ALL IN" ; it means a complete buy in to safety, customer focus, and getting results. They look for a strong work ethic, a reliable attendance record, and the ability to work well with all kinds of people. If you're organized, solution oriented, and self motivated, that fits here too.

The core belief? Zero ; being safe 100% of the time is the expectation, not a goal.

How to Apply

If you have the construction experience and equipment operation background described above, apply through JobXi. Include your work history and note any certifications you hold, especially your CDL or OSHA 10. If you don't have those certifications but can get them within 6 months, make sure to mention that in your application.
