About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Store Manager in Training in Chicago, IL. You're not applying to be the manager on day one; you're applying to learn how to become one. The goal is to get you ready to run your own store by working side by side with an experienced Store Manager, learning everything from leading a team to managing the daily business.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be learning the ropes of running a Safelite store. That means getting involved in just about everything.
- Work with the Store Manager on all things people related: hiring new folks, training them, coaching them, and helping build a positive team culture that makes people want to stick around.
- Figure out what skills your technicians and repair specialists need and help them develop those skills through regular feedback.
- Support the execution of the store's annual plan. You'll help delegate tasks and make sure everyone is pulling in the same direction.
- Keep an eye on key business results like revenue, customer satisfaction scores (NPS), job completion rates, and team retention.
- Manage day to day store operations. This covers safety, facility upkeep, inventory, timecards, and making sure everyone follows company processes.
- Make sure every customer has a great experience. Monitor service metrics and work to remove any obstacles that get in the way of that.
- Collaborate with other key roles across the organization; like warehouse managers or dispatchers; to get things done.
- Implement company best practices in your store and hold your team accountable for doing the same. Sometimes you might even step in to perform a repair or recalibration yourself if needed to meet customer demand.
The Stuff You Need
A Bachelor's degree is required, or you can substitute equivalent practical experience. They'd prefer someone with 4 6 years of leadership or supervision experience under their belt already.
A few specific abilities are non negotiable here:
- You have to be willing and able to work at different store locations within your district as needed for training or coverage.
- A bit of travel is part of it; up to 5% of the time.
- You should be comfortable with Microsoft Office, basic web apps, and standard office equipment.
The Physical Side of Things
This isn't a desk only job. The physical requirements include working from the store location itself. You need to be able to safely operate a company vehicle following all safety policies; that means having a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company standards. You'll also need to meet all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements (like wearing nitrile gloves). And occasionally, you'll lift windshields weighing up to 35 pounds.
