About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. I'm recruiting for an Occupational Therapist to join the team at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, IL. It's a full time position on their Acute Rehabilitation Unit.
The Role
You'll be working on a 30 bed inpatient rehab floor that's brand new. This unit is specifically for patients recovering from some serious stuff: strokes, traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, complex neurological issues, amputations, and major orthopedic injuries. The goal is to help them get their function and independence back.
The hospital runs 24/7, and this rehab unit is managed by Lifepoint Rehabilitation, which runs more of these hospital based rehab units than anyone else in the country.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate patients and create the treatment plans that are right for them.
- Your focus is on therapeutic interventions that build daily living skills and functional independence.
- You have to document every session and track patient progress; it needs to be accurate and done on time.
- Collaboration is a big part of it. You'll work directly with other healthcare pros and with patients' families on care plans.
- A lot of your job involves teaching; showing patients and their caregivers adaptive techniques and how to use equipment.
- Keep everything compliant with safety rules and regulations.
- And you'll take on other duties as they come up.
What You Need to Bring
First off, you need to be a graduate from an accredited occupational therapy program. You have to hold a current license to practice occupational therapy in this state. CPR certification is required; we need that on file.
While we'll consider strong new grads, having some experience in an inpatient rehab setting is definitely preferred. You should be someone with solid interpersonal skills, because you're dealing with people during a tough time in their lives. Your documentation skills need to be strong too. If you've used any rehab specific documentation systems before, that's a plus.
The Details & How to Apply
This is a full time position. The posting comes from Lifepoint Rehabilitation, which is part of Lifepoint Health. They're a national network focused on community based care across hospitals, rehab units, and behavioral health facilities.
If you're interested and you meet the qualifications; that accredited degree, state OT license, and CPR cert; please apply through the platform here. We'll review applications as they come in.
